The apologetics ministry behind the “Ark Encounter” theme park in northern Kentucky is reclaiming the rainbow.
The park’s 510-foot-long ark is lit up in rainbow colors in the evenings (right). No, LGBT activists haven’t sabotaged the life-size recreation of Noah’s boat. Instead, according to the park’s website, it’s illuminated “as a testament to the true meaning of the rainbow.”
These days the rainbow is more likely to be used as a symbol of pride for homosexuals and their supporters. But as Dr. Georgia Purdom with Answers in Genesis notes, it’s actually a sign of God’s promise following The Flood described in Genesis 6-9.
And God said, “This is the sign of the covenant I am making between me and you and every living creature with you, a covenant for all generations to come: I have set my rainbow in the clouds, and it will be the sign of the covenant between me and the earth. Whenever I bring clouds over the earth and the rainbow appears in the clouds, I will remember my covenant between me and you and all living creatures of every kind. Never again will the waters become a flood to destroy all life. Whenever the rainbow appears in the clouds, I will see it and remember the everlasting covenant between God and all living creatures of every kind on the earth.”
Genesis 9:12-16 (NIV)
“Even though LGBT and those different organizations have kind of taken the rainbow and used it for their purposes, it’s ours. It’s Christian,” she says. “It belongs to us, and that’s why we want to do this.”
So they’re taking it back. Every night they will be bathing their ark in the colors of God’s promise. Purdom says they hope to start a movement. “We can’t just let LGBT or the secular society at large take what isn’t theirs,” she tells OneNewsNow. “It never was theirs, it was always ours; and they took it and redefined it.”
Many Christians might believe that that ship has sailed, so to speak, but Peter Labarbera of Americans for Truth About Homosexuality says it’s never too late.
“No battle in public policy and the culture war is ever gone,” he states.
LaBarbera says it’s not an angry or petty battle, but actually a battle for the hearts of the lost.
“Speak the truth in love,” he advises. “Offer people the solution to the problem, to their sin problem, which includes homosexuality – and that is the person of Jesus Christ.”
And remind them, LaBarbera says, that God’s promise of a life beyond eternal destruction is for them, too.
A Note for our Readers: Support SrhNews.Blog to help build a global news network that provides a credible source for world news We believe Christians need and deserve their own global news network to keep the worldwide Church informed, and to offer Christians a positive alternative to the anti-Christian bigotry of the mainstream news media. Ever since Donald Trump was elected president, it is painfully clear that the mainstream media covers liberals glowingly and conservatives critically. Now journalists spread false, negative rumors about President Trump before any evidence is even produced. Americans need an alternative to the mainstream media. That’s why SrhNews. Blog exists.
